How much are these old books worth? I have recently moved house and when I looked in the loft I found a suitcase and in that suitcase I found loads of books; Black Beauty by Anna Sewell and My Son, My Son by Howard Spring were two fo them. They have fabric hard backs and they are in decent condition. All of the pages are readable. The book has minor scuffs. My Son, My Son was published by Collins Forty Eight and also has a little sticker on the inside cover saying 'GOULDENS CANTERBURY' (I don't know if that is anything significant). The fabric cover is blue. Black Beauty is is good condition and the only aging seems to be to the spine of the book (it has been bleached by the sun, changing its colour slightly). On the spine it also says 'RYLEE CLASSICS). The fabric cover has a floral design to it. Are these books worth anything and if they are where could I sell them?
How can I find out the value of an old Charles Dickens book? Title: Christmas Stories By: Charles Dickens Publisher: Books Inc. No copyright date. Green Hardcover with small black floral design in center. I would really appreciate some guidance in finding out the value of this book. It doesn't have an ISBN or date so I am kind of stumped. Thanks!
For Floral designers/shop owners? I am currently taking a long distance floral design course through the Floral Design Institute. Once I complete the program and become certified how much is that a factor in hiring someone? I haven't worked at a shop, at this point, I am just book smart. So what can I realistically expect to encounter??
What to I need to know about opening an Inn? I'm only 15, but don't let that fool you, I'm pretty serious about going into the Inn business(I've already created a scrapbook comprised of clippings from various furniture and interior design books). The problem is I don't know anything about the world of running your own buisness or the Inn world for that matter. If you've ever run an Inn or a buisness similar, could you just fill me in on as much as you can so I'm more well informed. I've taken floral design classes in the past and hope to continue with classes like that in the Fall. Here's some of my questions: Are Inn's popular? What locations will bring in the most people? How many rooms do Inns usually include? What are the requirements for an Inn? How can I go about looking for a suitable location? (I'm leaning towards a sweet, country style Inn, fireplaces, horses, rosie wallpaper, perhaps a pond sort of thing) How can I prepare myself for such a demanding career? How much money will I need to invest? Sorry, that's alot of questions lol. No need to answer all, but your help would be greatly appreciated. Ps. By the time I actually open I assume will be out of this recession.
Does anyone know how to find a craft book publisher? I've been driving myself nuts trying to find craftbook publishers in Canada who take unsolicited manuscripts and now I'm widening my search to include international publishers. I have about 280+ geometric line drawings, four floral designs for paper quilling(so far) , and 70+/- stretchy bracelet designs and I'd like to get them published. I'm searching for a traditional publisher, but I'd also consider writing for magazines and e-book publishers. Can anyone help?
Trying to decide if I should do this too? I'm starting Floral Design classes soon to be a florist. I don't see myself running my own business or anything, I'm just looking to work for someone else, really. However, I was debating on taking some business classes as well, just so I can help with book keeping or something too. What business classes should I take that would be useful for this career?
Where can I find online wallpapers like laura ashley designs-floral, swirly, arty prints. French..?Victorian? If you have the book 'the goddess guide' by Gisele Scanlon, the designs really sum up what im after - that specific old wallpapery look, all swirly and floral sort of french or victorian. Hope ive described what I want without too much confusion, any good links to a collection of these designs would be ideal, but if you've seen one or two floating around that would be good! OH and if you know what these patturns are called to narrow it down for me in the search engines that would be cool, as im not getting very far typing in swirly art!
What is the meaning in Russian (?) of Dorzhnoye Mbglo or Mbgpo(?). Second word in Russian looks like Mbir/no? This is a correction to a prior question. The rest of the box says savon (soap?) de voyage and societe Brocard & co. The box is one my father has that his mother gave him. She was born in Culbertson, Nebraska in 1887, the first born child on US soil, family Germans from Russia from the Volga area. I am wondering if it could have been a box from Russia holding soap during their crossing to America in 1885. It is as wide and long as a deck of cards. It is about 1 3/4 " thick. It is shaped like a book. The tin/book is black with gold trim and a floral design on the front in pale green and cream on black. The front and sides look like gilt edged pages of a book. Thanks for any help. I am a curious family historian.
old paper with flower designs? I have been goggling for hours trying to find an old styled open book with a natural looking floral design. Can anyone else help me find one?
Looking for good design - Images and Text? I am looking for a piece of design that is a combination of images and text. I need it for a project that I have. i need to look for a design and write a self-reflective paper about it. I was looking for something floral/fractal with a mix of text. I have not been able to find anything. Or if not this, I wanted something that has mixed media with text. Meaning I want something with like paint splatter or just something other than only digital media and text. I have been able to find plenty of images that I like, but a majority of these images do not have text. So I need to find something that uses text appropriately. It can be a anything actually, a design, comic/illustration, book, ad, photograph, or even graffiti. Thanks for your help!!!
Resources on Czech folk art? My mother's side of the family is Czech, and very proud of their heritage. I wanted to knit something for my grandmother for Christmas, and I saw a scarf with a floral design added to the bottom and thought it was something very pretty she would like. I'd like to try to come up with my own design, based on Czech folk art I've seen throughout my life, but it wasn't until I started trying to come up with something that I realized how little I know about it. I have a few Czech recipe books that have beautiful floral motifs that I love, but I wouldn't mind some more examples to work with. Can anyone point me in the direction of a few resources on Czech folk art?
Money no option how would you design you bedroom? best one 10 points!!! i'm feeling curious and like i need inspiration i like loads of different designs but right now I would go with white floorboards and walls and ceilings, HUGE window covering most of wall with sheer curtains and silver stars , a four poster bed with soft white sheets, white feather cushions and sheer sheets with dream catchers hanging down, a dressing table with perfume bottles and snow globes all over it, vintage chairs and antique rugs, fairy lights strung all over the place and a swing just in the middle of nowhere a HUGE shelf of mh favourite books and random candles all over the place a bathroom floral wallpaper and a sort of country english feel, and two double doors sort of looking like the entrance to a mansion open them and a MASSIVE walk in wardrobe with flowing gowns and over sized jumpers bags hanging off walls and shoes organised by style and colour and goldfish bowls filled with pearls and diamonds and then a little passage under the vintage t-shirts into a little cave full of hundreds and hundreds of fashion magazines!!! so many other ideas but that's the main parts...what is your dream bedroom...money (or sense) no option
What do you think about the English Standard Version? A friend gave me a cute compact English Standard Version Bible. I'm not familiar with this translation, is it a good one? I'm Catholic so I usually use Catholic translations, but I also like to use protestant translations my favorite being the NKJV. The only protestant translations that I am familiar & have used for study are the KJV & NKJV. (My parents use the KJV) Also my Aunt recommends that I get a New American Standard Version Bible, I'm not familiar with this translation either.. Here is a link to the ESV Bible at amazon it has more information about it. (I really love the cover) http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Compact-TruTone-Floral-Design/dp/1433501945/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239644747&sr=8-1 Thanks guys Robert B~"How would people on here know?" I have many Catholic friends on YA the easiest way to ask my friends a question would be to ask it on YA. But I would also like to hear what other Christians think of this translation as well. "I am wondering though, if you are Catholic why on earth are you using Protestant copies of the Bible? Don't you want the truth rather than an amended Bible?" I'm sorry that you feel this way. I am Catholic, but I was raised Protestant. I have a lot of respect for Protestants. Especially since all my family expect for my self & my husband are Protestant. I do own & use Catholic translations my favorites being the RSV-CE. I've been comparing the RSV-CE & the NKJV other than the fact that the deuterocanonical books aren't included in the NKJV the 2 aren't really all that different. They both have the same message, just worded in a different way. Thank you for the link Scott S~ Your answer is very informative, thank you for the links. MrsFreckleToes~ thank you for the link & the info. Frankie~ The best translation of the bible is the one that you are comfortable with and can understand. Other versions can come later once you have enjoyed reading it in the version of your choice. This is good advise thank you :) David H~ Thank you for the info :) Maybe one day I'll also get the New Jerusalem Bible to add to my collection :) Alice R~ thank for the info :) SuzyQ -- pray4revival~ May God bless you too joe b~ Thank you for the info joe b~ Thank you for the info Atheist Aghast~ That is very true I agree one should always read a book before judging it. Thank you for the advise Metal K & Jeancommunicates~ Thank you for your opinion.
I'm going to college soon, but i don't know what kind of classes to take, what jobs would best fit me? I like taking people's ideas, and making them reality. Like movies, or writing books/short stores, or creating clothes, or designing posters/yearbooks or designing the looks of rooms. I've loved the idea of being a wedding planner, and coming up with floral designs or the look of a wedding all together. I also like the idea of computer animating, or something along the ideas with making movies. I don't know if it helps, but we were required to write a persuasive speech to our class, and present it. It was a contest, and i won. What kind of jobs do you think i would enjoy? writing short stories*
How should I dress for my audition... & do my hair & makeup...? Okay, I'm 13, and I'm going to an audition next Saturday for Hannah Montana or something [ I never knew about it, my dad just randomly booked it]. So, this is me [very right]:http://www.flickr.com/photos/xokarenox/3216153911/ I usually make my hair in a side ponytail, and I usually have my bangs in my face, which really annoys my mother. I thought of putting my hair down, and wearing a head band from Lululemon which is light blue and black, like this: http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/pict/110366939680_1.jpg I'm wonering what kinf of makeup I should do, since I never ever wear makeup. This is the outfit I picked out: A babydoll kinda styled shirt which is torquise with short sleeves and a teeny floral design on the bottom from Aeropostale. Some jeans/capris, and some new running shoes. I was also thinking of hoop earrings. Or is my outift too casual? :S Please help, and if my outfit isn't okay, please make me one on polyvore, mainly things from Aero and AE. Thanks you! Dang the pic didn't post D: Very right http://www.flickr.com/photos/xokarenox/3216153911/
Wedding Guestbook help? I've been looking around for guestbooks for my wedding and the style I want seems to be very hard to find. Does anyone know where I can find a vintage-style book? One that has parchment looking pages with antique floral or calligraphy designs. If you've ever seen anything by Anna Griffin, it's kind of like that, but she doesn't offer guestbooks for sale. I do not want a padded/silky/cloth covered book. Thanks in advance!

How much should be spent on a wedding? Here's some info that may help! Can do a Local venue for around $6,000 and will also have to supply my own caterer, wedding cake, DJ, floral arrangements, etc. not as beautiful and spacious closer to home so guests will only have to travel about 5-10 miles can do on a Saturday probably won't have to make a loan with the bank OR southern oaks plantation for around $12,000 only have to buy cake and get florist to design bouquets and boutonnieres 100% more beautiful this is what I really want out of town, guests would have to travel about 50 miles probably will do on a Friday night instead because Saturday is even more expensive and harder to book catering, attendants, DJ, unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are provided includes horse and carriage and fireworks! probably will have to take a loan out with the bank for some (some!) of the cost P.S. we already live together and have bought a home.... nobody is seeing my point of view...where I live there aren't too many places to have a ceremony and the places there are...it's not that great...it would be just an ordinary wedding nothing to talk about....I want something to talk about...and if anyone watches the video (www.southernoaksplantation.com) you will know what I mean. Also, most people spend around $5,000 for their wedding and then spend $5,000 or maybe less on a honeymoon....well we aren't going on a honeymoon. I told my man that if I have my wedding at this place, I don't need one!
What Do You Think Of My Book? The wind slapped a strand of my curly blonde hair against my face. It was one of those days where everyone silently wished they were somewhere else. The dullness was nearly sufficating. The sky looked like it could erupt at any moment splattering unpleasent droplets on anyone who dared to step outside in the city of ______,________. Myschool bag tugged at my shoulders as I spotted my gray brick house. I slid the key to the lock and twisted my wrist uncomfortable to enter my typical suberban home. There was my mushy gray couch, the stained beige carpet, and the tv so old it was only decoration. My backpack landed on the couch. The kitchenhad its own sort of failure however with the stained couter tops, the neon green wall that my mom thought was "poppy" but the outdated appliances where just the frosting on the cake. As I thought what HGTV would do to my house i wearily approached my room. DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNN. Picture a 3 year olds bedroom she designed herself, now picture it floral. Yeah, that's it. Soon i landed on my bed. I decided another hopeful glance out the window before giving up and deciding I wasn't in a nightmare, but something caught my eye, a swift movement and then it was gone before I could get a clear veiw. my heart skipped about 15 silent beats before I could jump away from the window in horror. I knew I saw something, but before I could really think about it my legs were taking me down the hall fatser than i thought I could go. I locked every window possible and settled into the family room [ the place with the most functioning locks]. Once I got 3 paragraphs into reading about Nixon I was so calm I could even fall asleep, but then I heard a door squeek open and i was oon wide awake. i am mostly asking if i am a good writer thanks for the second asker i hope that u can look for it in stores in a couple years it is called the obsession so far
