A job that's not hard to find work right out of school?? I'm having been trying to decide what field to go into! i can't decide what class to take! I have tried looking at medical billing, health record specialist, and floral design. All these jobs require 5 years experience, so how do you get the experience? Have any of you tried any of these fields, and how long did it take to find work? thanks..
I'm going to college soon, but i don't know what kind of classes to take, what jobs would best fit me? I like taking people's ideas, and making them reality. Like movies, or writing books/short stores, or creating clothes, or designing posters/yearbooks or designing the looks of rooms. I've loved the idea of being a wedding planner, and coming up with floral designs or the look of a wedding all together. I also like the idea of computer animating, or something along the ideas with making movies. I don't know if it helps, but we were required to write a persuasive speech to our class, and present it. It was a contest, and i won. What kind of jobs do you think i would enjoy? writing short stories*
Help indentifing furniture? I have recently purchased 2 pieces of furniture. Both I am assuming are reproductions of actual antiques. Both are made of solid wood with gold guild. Handles on the dresser appear to be either leaf or clam shape design and have a unique crackle finish paint job with floral designs. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the style furniture and roughly the value. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/closeups001.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/closeups002.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/closeups003.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/closeups004.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/chair1.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/chair2.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/dresser1.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/dresser2.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/lorentchia/Furniture/dresser3.jpg Any help would be appreciated. Can A person survive on the fluctuation of commision and tips as a Cosmotologist and a Esthetician combined? Hello Everyone. I am a 43 single still woman with two dogs who has tried it all pretty much.. in ways of work. I even attempted to go to College twice with no much luck. I had given Paralegal a wurl too. I am since a little girl a very creative artistic person. My Ultimate extreme goal is to become either a best selling author or.. a painter. I knew this since I was about 10 .. however had no help or support from family. I was an A student and could have gotten scholarships in the arts. Now.. at 43.. I am stuck at a dead end job, working because of gas prices and barely...making ends just meet, with no extra spending money for even clothes. I want to better myself. The media that I hear constantly keeps encouragin nursing. I have a good friend who is a RN and super stressed out over her career. I also read the blogs on all nuses .com and many sadly go into this feel for the security and money and admit to that on the blog. Many are complaining of burn out and injuries. I am not a good person with the elderly and I am not all that compassionate to be honest. I am passionate about art and dogs/animals. I decided.. or.. so.. I thought... to go to an Aveda School for cosmetology that will take me 11 months to complete then go for esthetician which will be an extra 4-5 months. I would then be qualified to do it all.. Hair, nails and skin care. I am just worried that although this would be creative and artistic.. that it would require me to compete with the younger gals who dress trendy and I never have. I also am worried about finances. Although .. they both bring in tips you must get and maintain clients and then eventually you will get a comission of 30-45 percent. I called a Aveda salon and owner said one gal is making 50 grand but.. this must fluctuate with the commisions and tips. I suppose.. I am not use to living on a flexible fluctuating pay scale. I may be able to eventually down the line maintain a liscense to work out of my home to do it that way too.. Aveda for those who are unfamiliar is a Hollistic organic botanicals uses to formualte their product line. I was worried also about aging in that field. Mabe.. I am worrying for nothing or too much. I also.. plan to for sure.. go there after.. to a county college for 8 months to get a certificate in floral design. The woman who teaches the class gets in leads there too. But.. I must do the later first . Cosmetology offers flexibility and you can pencil yourself in. I can then .. do both creative fields. This will enable me to leave my jobs behind when I leave them.. and concentrate on some writing coorespondence school that I plan to take.. and any other on line or off writing and art classes. Now.. that I said all that.. LOL .. I think.. I may be okay. Hey.. if I break into the writing or art area that is my childhood life long dream.. then all else can go away.. if the money follows. By the way.. all above is me and what I love to do. I want to be able to pay the rent, all my bills and car expenses and feed the dogs. I also.. want to not have to worry so.. much and often about money as I have my whole life been very very poor. I dont remeber the last time I bought undies or clothes. If I do.. I go to good will. I also want to be able to have a clear head to pursue my dreams later on. I heard the cosmetology boards are hard to pass. Not sure though. I also love flowers and colors of all sorts. I am not a glamour girl by far. But.. I can learn to dress nice. I never had the money to do so.. or incentive. Any encourgement will be appreciated. Thank You All. Ohh and I just stretched a ligament in my hip and have to have physical therapy before work. Am on light duty. And bag groceries for now. How sad!
Health Care Career after degree in Agricultural Business? My entire life I grew up around animals, on a farm, joining the National FFA Organization. So when Senior year of high school came, it was no question what I would be going to college for... AGRICULTURAL BUSINESS. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my major, but I'm having some major problems with my future. I'm worried that perhaps, I chose the wrong major (I'm thinking that I may have just chosen my major because it was in my comfort zone, and because I know nothing else) and I should just graduate with an associates instead of my planned bachelor's degree and then transfer to an unrelated major. I would really love to graduate with my bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business (and possibly an associates degree in something like Horticulture or Floral Design for kicks), and then go to graduate school for a career in Health Care. The job security and pay scale is what is most enticing (I'll have at least $60,000 in student loans). I'm interested in becoming an Xray Technician, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or possibly even a Therapist of some sort. I love helping people and the feeling of giving. So... what is a career that I could get, with a Master's degree that has a good payscale and excellent job security and also doesn't mind that my undergrad is in Agricultural Business?
Is my sister using me? For a while when i didnt have a job, i helped my sister with her floral design stuff, like help set tables at wedding receptions, help with flowers etc. now i have a part time job and a full time job and staying busy, she still asks me to help her out. im like i would like to have a saturday off and hang out with friends, etc. im not trying to be mean, but why does she not just get a college kid to help her out or someone who likes that kind of stuff. seems like she only calls me when she needs help, never to hang out or anything, but shell hang out with my other siblings. im 25, shes 30, so were close to same age. my mom thinks she needs just to find someone who can help her all the time and not rely on me all the time, i do have a life and friends.
what kind of job can i do? i currently work in disability and community welfare and i would really like a complete career change, cause i feel i have done all that i want to do. i want to get away from shift work, and would like to possibly do something crafty. i have certificates in floral design. any ideas?

Tattoos after pregnancy? Bit of irony to this question lol - I used to have my navel pierced 4 times in a cross, and then I fell pregnant and it has absolutely obliterated my belly button - the piercings are now gone but the holes are now long slits, there are stretchmarks fanning out of each slit and the metal has stained my skin there brown over the years. It has made even the politest people gasp in horror! (no 'serves you right's'! lol). Anyway, I've been considering designing a tattoo, either a floral design or a tiger rearing, coming up diagonally from my hip bone so that the top acts as a cover up job for the ruined belly button. My question is, if I choose to have more children in the future, which currently isn't the plan but you never know, will this ruin the tattoo to the point where it can't be touched up and made to look half decent again? Considering my stomach is terrible anyway I'll happily find the lesser of two evils! ps. just for the record, i've tried putting the piercings back in but they did nothing to hide it and just made it look more of a mess!
Would this be an appropriate letter to send? My great grandfather opened a flower shop decades ago in my home town, with my grandfather and his brother later taking over. They sold the business upon retirement, but the shop is still open and running with the same name and everything. I'm out of the country at university right now, but I am taking a floral design class next semester. In ths spring I'll be going home and will need a job until the fall. I'm really interested in working at that flower shop, but I'm sure it's not super busy for hiring. Would it be appropriate to mail a letter (perhaps with a resume?) to them now so that they know ahead of time that I am interested? I could also phone, but I won't really be home (beside for a short time in a few days) until the spring. What do you think?
How do I tell my parents I want to quit college? I've been going to college for only a couple months now and I've hated it from the start. You see, I moved four hours away from my hometown to live with my fiance who is in the military and decided to attend college here. So far I have no friends and no one in the school has any interest to make any because they go with their high school friends. What I really want to do is get an online career diploma in floral design, which I've discussed with my mom and she seems to think it's absolutely ridiculous. She herself married young(I'm going to be married with my fiance the same age her and my dad were) she started school but then dropped out in the first semester and got a job at a hospital, now she's going back at the age of 40 and getting her nursing degree, don't get me wrong it's admirable but she's trying to control my life. How do I tell her I need to live my own life, not hers?

How to become a wedding/ event planner? I love weddings! And parties! But what I love most about them is not actually PARTYING (except at my wedding LOL), it's the planning! I love designing and executing the invites! I adore all flowers and creating beautiful centerpieces! I obsess over color palettes and patterns... I'm addicted! I just planned my little sister's bridal shower and it was a TOTAL hit! It was a petal-pink and black damask theme, with home-baked cupcakes, finger sandwiches, macaroons, and tons of coordinating details! For my own wedding, I'm doing it ALL myself. I designed and executed the invitations; an entire suite with pocketfold closure. I even made the pocketfolds myself! I'm making all of the BM gifts myself. I've already designed the floral arrangements and the rest of the paper products. And the wedding isn't until May! LOL Everyone tells me that I really have "a calling". It's something I absolutely LOVE doing, and I'd love to be able to make a living doing it. But I have no idea where to start... Should I call local planners and ask to shadow them? Or maybe get a job with them? And how do I get my foot in the door with local vendors? Any and all help and advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! OH, and I already have a name... 'Fete' :) What do you think?
