wall art for small apartment? pls help!?
I'd like to hang some pictures in my apartment but my choice is limited since the landlord does not want nails used to hang pictures. I am considering using 3M command picture strips for smaller frame sizes like 8 x 10 inches upto 11 x 14 inches. Will these work? I take pictures so I might frame some of my own. But I'd like a bigger print for the living room, would an unframed poster look tacky? I think the product 3M sells may not work for large frames. The living room walls are a neutral beige color and my bedroom walls are sort of a light green but darker than sage. I like landscapes and floral pictures. Should I go with color or black and white? Big art or small art? If the colors in the picture match those of the wall is that too much? Ideas are welcome

- Those 3M strips should work fine. They come in many sizes and tell you how many pounds that they hold. Small spaces can be expanded with mirrors, although I don't know if I would use the 3M strips on a mirror, kind of heavy. I would recommend framing your pictures, they always look nicer that way. Put up what pleases you. It is your home so there are no rules.
- Your paying your landlord to live there so its is your place and you can fix those holes when you move wont cost more than 3-4 for some patch stuff so go ahead and hang. But when you hang the heavy picture use a drywall screw if your hanging lighter one use the tape bu i find nails are much more reliable.Make sure you find the studs in the wall. I find Colorful is an attention getter!
- The 3M hangers offer different weight loads for you to choose from so they could be fine. I'm surprised the landlord won't allow pictures to be hung. Holes can be filled when you leave and when done nicely no one would know there was a picture there. Of course, the walls have to be painted but so they should be in between each renter. Do not put up unframed posters. That looks very young and dorm room. Do your own photos as you suggested. Your pictures and prints should relate to your furniture style and colors. And don't get caught up in the one big print. Do a wall in a series of coordinating artwork. Much more interesting and more interior design looking. Everything you do can be done to budget. If you don't have a lot of money, frame fabrics in coordinating colors to match your decor. The possibilities are unlimited.
- if your landlord not allowed, i think you can stick your pictures without fram, then it can be as large as you want. and some photo wall pictures you can refer: http://decor-photos.com/or/Photowall-ea220a51b6278fc4.html
