My Floral Design

Do I have to tip the floral delivery person?

My sister sent me flowers as part of my early bday present today(My bday's in May & she does this every year). When I took the arrangement from the delivery lady, she hung around for about 20-30 seconds, waiting, I presume, for a tip. Is this now common to tip the floral delivery people? I thanked her for the delivery & said to tell the designer of my arrangement thanks for the gorgeous arrangement. Should I have given her a tip?

  4. I work with floral delivery. I appreciate tips although my company isn't technically supposed to take them. Other companies will be different though, and generally all delivery service people appreciate tips. The basic rule is, if you like their attitude and service, tip 'em. If not, they don't deserve it.
  5. it's your choice if you wanted to tip them or not. If the lady was hanging around for a tip, then you did the right thing in not giving her a tip. A person shouldn't expect tips from people.
  6. Yea, it is customary to give delivery people a tip except, UPS, Fed Ex or Mailman. You were probably called a cheapskate by the driver once she left.
  7. There is the "technical" definition that anyone who performs a service should be tipped. However, that's stupid. She drove to your door and gave you a package. She didn't even arrange it; and even if she had, that's her job. The answer is a big NO.
